The Albany State Golden we’re not very welcoming host to the Tigers of Edward Waters. In front of a homecoming crowd of 7892, ASU laid a 30-0 smack down on EWU, using an aerial attack that largely has not been present during their previous five games this season, as quarterback Dionte completing 14 of his 23 passes for 283 yards and three scores.
Though the passing game did most of the damage on the day, the ground game drew first blood. After EWU received the opening kickoff and promptly went three-and-out , ASU got the ball and drove 43 yards in just 5 plays, getting in the end zone on a 3-yard run from Marcuis Fulks to put the Rams up 7-0 after the PAT. The score would stay that way until early in the second quarter when Bonneau and Joe Shorter connected on a 66-yard touchdown strike, the missed extra point would leave the score at 13-0. Following that score, the quarter was a milieu of punts, unconverted first down attempts , with the only other changing of the scoreboard happened right at the end of the half with a 42-yard field goal off the leg of Gabriel Ballinas to put Albany State up 16-0 at the intermission.
The next score of the game came at the 13:35 mark of the third quarter when Bonneau and Shorter hooked up again, this time on a 53-yard touchdown pass that would extend the lead to 23-0, following the PAT.
Bonneau and the Ram offense found paydirt again when he tossed this third scoring pass of the day, this one a 13-yard completion to Kristian Grant that capped a 7 play, 72-yard drive to make the score 30-0.
Albany State hits the road next week, heading to Columbia, South Carolina to take on Benedict College; kickoff time for the ballgame is 2:00 pm EST. Edward Waters also returns to action next week, hosting Kentucky State for their homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm EST.
